I think that this quote is totally wrong and false because I think our deepest fear is that we are inadequate.   We fear that we will not live up to our true potential, that is why so many of us stress ourselves out because we want to be not only the best we can be but the best.  Its human nature to strive to be the best.  Our deepest fear along with being inadequate is that we will die unknown.  That is why I have the quote at the top of my xanga site.  Mary Shelley's book Frankenstein deals with this very issue.  I suggest you read it.  However, after saying all of this I do agree with one part of the quote:  "Your playing small does not serve the world. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."  The rest of the quote when taken out of the context it is put in makes very good sense.  None of us want to be small and insignificant and if there is a person around us who is more "powerful" than us then we will try to be more powerful than that particular person.  Survival of the fittest, competition, human nature.  Our fear is one of inadequacy and failure.  "Failure is not an option."  We want to be the best. Well that is my thought for the night as of now if I think anymore I will add it.  Semper Fi
